Reader Version

In this episode of the Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi podcast, host Bruce dives into Chapter 38, titled "1000 Dolls!!" The chapter opens with a fierce battle involving Sakaki, who swiftly defeats two demon lords. Bruce highlights Sakaki’s impressive reflexes and resilience, noting that despite taking a powerful attack, Sakaki remains unfazed and ready for more. The tension escalates as Yuda, a character who appears to have betrayed the exorcist faction, arrives to challenge Sakaki, bringing with him the ability to summon weapons from another dimension and a teammate to assist in the fight.

Bruce reflects on the unique and somewhat unsettling abilities of the fourth Demon Lord, Gorgon Mede, who has a peculiar obsession with turning humans into dolls. This hobby, described as both creepy and bizarre, adds a strange layer to the demon’s character and the story’s supernatural elements. The demon’s power to transform humans into dolls from another dimension is seen as a disturbing passion, which Bruce finds intriguing yet odd, emphasizing the creative and dark fantasy aspects of the series.

The battle intensifies with Gorgon Mede demonstrating her strength, claiming to be tougher than a diamond and using a special technique called "eight toll crushing fists," which amplifies her power with each toll of a bell. Bruce imagines how exciting this would be if animated, praising the series for its strong female characters and dynamic fight scenes. He appreciates the variety of characters, each with distinct and appealing traits, making the story engaging and visually captivating. A pivotal moment occurs when Gorgon Mede uses her "Nightmare Eye" ability, which traps opponents in their deepest fears, effectively paralyzing them mentally.

Bruce explains that this power forces victims into a nightmare state, where they relive traumatic memories and lose touch with reality. The character Kyoka experiences this firsthand, reliving painful memories of loss and isolation. Bruce interprets this as a psychological attack that challenges the victim’s mental fortitude rather than physical strength. Kyoka’s struggle with the Nightmare Eye reveals her inner resolve. Despite the torment, she refuses to succumb to despair, choosing instead to rely on her own strength and determination. Bruce notes that the key to overcoming the Nightmare Eye is rejecting the false reality it creates and holding onto one’s purpose and identity.

Kyoka’s decision to continue fighting as a cross paladin, despite her pain, symbolizes her resilience and commitment to protect others without depending on anyone else. Throughout the episode, Bruce maintains a balance between summarizing the plot and offering his personal insights. He admires the series’ blend of intense action, psychological depth, and character development. His enthusiasm for the story’s unique elements and strong characters shines through, making the podcast both informative and entertaining for fans of Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi.

Just check out the app, it's really cool. Anyways, let's get into this. Alright, I want you to come at me, you despicable filth. Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi Chapter 38 titles The Fourth Demon Lord Gorgon Mede You killed two demon lords in a second flat. Sakaki, I always knew you were the one I wanted most of all. Oh damn, he came up fast and he lifted his head, obviously maybe because of the skeleton aspects of it, but that was very, very fast reflexes. Now, now, let's not rush things.

What's this, a power bomb coming out of his mouth? Straight into Sakaki's face, or his whole body. Is that the best you've got? Damn. And then a clash. Is this another person now? Took you long enough. Yuda. Hey now, I came as fast as I could. I knew it was you, Mukuro Dreamer. It was me, what? Yuda, you actually had the guts to show your face? I'm bringing you back for sure this time. You're still going on about that? You do know you're gonna die today, right? Don't let your mouth write a check you can't, your butt can't cash, bruh. Don't let your mouth write a check your butt can't cash, bruh. Okay, so his ability is able to bring weapons from maybe another dimension or pocket space.

And he's also got his teammate to help him fight Sakaki. So, yo, it looks like it might be troubling for Sakaki. But Sakaki did take a full on blast right to the face and he said, is that the best you've got? We haven't seen no actual injuries on him. And it just seems as though like he may be able to take down this guy very fast and then the main fight is going to be between him and this guy here. Entitled Yuda. I think Yuda betrayed the Exorcist faction. But, hey, I didn't start off from the beginning on this to be honest, so I can't really remember all of it. So, yeah. All right. Whack. How odd. That punch would have shattered a diamond. It's obvious, isn't it? I'm tougher than a diamond.

I guess I should have expected as much from the fourth Demon Lord. You're better than I'd figured. You'd be too. The fact that you can look me straight in my left eye and not turn into a doll is proof that you don't fear me. Fear, I see. So that's why my men became dolls. But why dolls? Because they're cute, duh. Filling my room with dolls that used to be humans is my one true passion. Now that is completely weird, bro. Now I know demons mean... Oh, in the aspect of real life, demons are humans whose soul became corrupted and are now living in hell, right? In the aspect of reality.

In this world, the fact that she's using demons or using her demons' ability to turn humans from their point of view from another dimension into dolls just shows how much of an interest slash... Should I say obsession that she has? That's really, really weird. I mean, why turn them into dolls? Like, that's really such a good question. It's just weird. It's like a kink. And you'll make doll number 1000. What an awful hobby. I suppose four tolls just won't cut it. Trying to act tough while your hands are really bleeding all over the place? Perhaps doubling it will do the trick. Hmm? Clastixism. Gong Girl. I thought this was gonna be sick when this gets animated.

Can you imagine the abilities, the character, the fans that are gonna just cater to the anime so much, especially because of the females and just the drawing? Do you know what I mean? It's just really good. There's so many good characters in this. Main characters especially and side characters. It's like, choose your pick. Everyone's got something classy and cool about them. What's there not to like? The sound of a bell? Where's it coming from? You're so kind, Miss Demon Lord. You're going to wait until it's done tolling? Eight toll crushing fists. Okay, so now this one hit her.

Remember she said that her punch is as strong as a diamond and that she may have to double it because the demon herself said that, well, I'm clearly stronger than a diamond. So when she called out her gong, maybe as soon as it makes a noise, it doubles her strength output. So because it went eight times, which is why she did eight toll crushing fists, she was able to actually do crazier damage or eight times the damage that she did previously to the demon and send that demon flying. Aww, would you look at that. Now your face is bleeding all over the place too. I see. She's a wickedly enhanced version of herself now. This is going to be tricky. I can't afford to drag things out.

In that case, I've got a special finisher for you. Consider it a gift. Uh oh. Nightmare Eye. It's a foolproof cheat skill. All it requires is eye contact to awaken a human's most deep seated fear and in turn, grant that human eternal peace of mind. So basically, she's saying that her ability, Nightmare Eye, traps you within your own mind, makes you, I wouldn't say crazy, I don't like the term using the term crazy, but just no more there in terms of reality. Ah, you're having a nightmare, Kyoka. Huh? Why am I? Hurry and wash up. Breakfast ready. Oh, right. I'm... Uh oh. Going to be marrying this man. Everyone I've ever loved is dead because we were exorcists. That's why I'd given up on marriage. Don't even.

It'll never happen. You're way too strong. Shut up! But he's different. He doesn't know I'm an exorcist. We'll start a normal family. I'll quit being an exorcist. With him... Damn. I think what that demon did is just woke her up from her nightmare because this is terrible. Kurogane! In the end, he died shielding me. He's not even an exorcist, but he protected me anyway. Kyoka, Kurogane, as of today, I appoint you as a cross paladin. I abandoned any hope for ordinary happiness. It's not your fault. I won't rely on anyone. I'll do it alone. Well, he says I'll go it alone. You should lean on us a little. I... You can rest now, Kyoka. She may be a cross paladin, but she's still only human.

She won't be waking up anytime soon. Even if I do this, whack. Though she's going in my collection, I better not damage her too much. It's okay. Don't blame yourself. Mental breakdown complete. Uh oh. But I still have to go. Get your hands off me. So the way to fight the nightmare eye, right, is to not accept that reality. Now, she has no way of finding out that she was in that reality, it seems. There wasn't like a mysterious thing where it came out of its way to be an odd thing. Do you know what I mean?

Like, you know how some people say if they dream and then they see a certain thing that they were thinking of before they slept, let's say, for example, a red bull, if they see it in their dream, then they know that they're dreaming. Does that make sense? There was no odd thing out there that specifically let her know that she was dreaming. What it was is that how she woke up was that she just basically said that she's not going to rest. She's going to keep doing her job and her job is being a cross paladin and an exorcist. There's no specific reason. Mainly it's just so that, well, there is a reason. Mainly it's just that she can protect herself and not ever have to rely on anyone again.

And that is the reason why she woke up. So I guess there is a way to wake up from that demon's nightmare eye. What? Whack. Fear. I gave up on that a long time ago. I've decided that solitude is the only partner I need. This is what I mean. Just relying on herself, not being worried about what's going to happen or what's going to happen around her. She knows that if she can rely on herself, she can protect herself
