It's really good, and it's not a series that you should fall asleep on. I've got people personally in my life who are watching anime, but will drop Jujutsu Kaisen because they are into other animes or they want to watch a one series type of thing before they get into it. Returning to the Zenin clan to retrieve cursed tools for the battle ahead, Maki walked into a murder plot sanctioned by her own father, Ougi Zenin. Resentful toward his twin daughters for being born, one without cursed energy and the other with barely enough cursed energy to matter, Ougi seizes the opportunity to put an end to Maki and Mai. Unable to stand against their father in their current state, both Mai and Maki are on the verge of death when he drags them deeper into the training vault to lock them away to be devoured by cursed spirits.
Embracing the truth about how Jujutsu handles twins by treating them as a single entity, Mai knows that so long as they both live, neither of them will ever reach their full potential. Sacrificing herself, Mai takes the small amount of her twin's cursed energy and combines it with her own. She uses her construction cursed technique to create a replica of Toji Fushiguro's blade. Giving this final gift to Maki and freeing her from the cursed energy, blocking her from embracing her heavenly restriction, Mai asks for just one thing. She wants Maki to destroy it all. A newly empowered Maki swallows her grief and embracing her resolve, starts tearing the entire Zenin clan to pieces.
In one of the most cinematic anime episodes of all time, Maki carves her way through the entire Zenin clan with a newly forged blade. Starting with her father, slashing through the clan's forces of warriors, she leaves a bloody trail in her wake before facing off against the most powerful clan sorceress. Even after her glorious animated battle against her arrogant cousin, Nao Zenin, Maki doesn't stop until confronting and killing her own mother. With the entire Zenin clan obliterated, only two of the powerful sorcerer clans at the head of Jujutsu society remain. The Kamo and Gojo clans.
The Jujutsu world has already been shaken to its very foundation by the Shibuya incident and the calling game promises that putting things back together the way they were will never be a possibility again. Anime fans have already heard plenty about Jujutsu's high suspended 3rd year student, Kinji Hikari. Kicked out of school for clashing with the higher ups, Kinji is currently running an underground fight club for Jujutsu sorcerers to battle it out in hand to hand combat for money. Counted among the handful of students Satoru Gojo believes have the potential to one day surpass him as a strong sorcerer, Kinji isn't exactly popular among his fellow students because of his arrogance.
Finding his fascination and his entertainment in the passions of others, running a fight club is the perfect job for a guy like Kinji. With Yuta already warning them that Kinji can be moody, Yuji and Megumi set out to meet and convince him to join their cause. Kinji Hikari will make his first official anime appearance in Season 3. Episode 5 titled Passion. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Episode 5 will air on Crunchyroll on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 12pm. That's a weird timing. Wait, hold on. What's today?
