Episode Notes

Denji is robbed of a normal teenage life, left with nothing but his deadbeat father's overwhelming debt. His only companion is his pet, the chainsaw devil Pochita, with whom he slays devils for money that inevitably ends up in the yakuza's pockets. All Denji can do is dream of a good, simple life: one with delicious food and a beautiful girlfriend by his side. But an act of greedy betrayal by the yakuza leads to Denji's brutal, untimely death, crushing all hope of him ever achieving happiness. Remarkably, an old contract allows Pochita to merge with the deceased Denji and bestow devil powers on him, changing him into a hybrid able to transform his body parts into chainsaws.

Because Denji's new abilities pose a significant risk to society, the Public Safety Bureau's elite devil hunter Makima takes him in, letting him live as long as he obeys her command. Guided by the promise of a content life alongside an attractive woman, Denji devotes everything and fights with all his might to make his naive dreams a reality. Reader Version

In this episode discussing Chainsaw Man Chapter 226, the host highlights Denji’s increasing resilience in battle. Despite being shot multiple times, Denji manages to block and withstand the attacks better than before, showing signs of growing strength. The host notes how Denji’s ability to hold his ground has improved, as he no longer gets pushed back as easily by gunfire. This development suggests that Denji is adapting to his powers and becoming a more formidable fighter. The chapter introduces a tense underwater scene where Denji falls through a door and encounters the Locust Devil and numerous locusts.

The host speculates that the antagonist, likely Yoruu, has a contract with the Locust Devil, which explains the sudden appearance of these creatures. This adds a new layer of complexity to the fight, as Denji must now contend with both Yoruu and the Locust Devil’s forces. A key moment discussed is Denji’s transformation into a more complete Chainsaw Man form. Contrary to the host’s initial assumption that Denji might lose his human identity when fully transformed, it appears he retains his sense of self while gaining enhanced powers. This evolution marks a significant upgrade from his previous partial transformations, allowing him to fight more effectively while maintaining his humanity.

The battle intensifies as Denji, despite losing limbs and suffering severe injuries, continues to fight fiercely. The host points out a brutal scene where Denji’s arm impales Yoruu, but she remains unharmed due to her contract with the USA. The host also notes the emotional complexity as Yoruu seemingly uses her own identity as a ploy to manipulate Denji, adding psychological tension to the physical conflict. Overall, the host expresses enjoyment of Chapter 226, appreciating the pacing and the way the story unfolds with limited panels. They suggest that this approach might encourage the creator to produce more chapters, making the series more accessible and engaging for fans.

The host invites listeners to share their thoughts on the chapter and encourages support for the podcast as it continues to cover manga and anime content. The episode closes with anticipation for the next chapter, urging listeners to stay tuned and keep up with the series. The host remains enthusiastic about Chainsaw Man’s ongoing story and looks forward to exploring future developments in the podcast.

Bang, huh? Yeah, look at the impact, he blocked it. I think Denji's getting stronger now, and maybe the bullets are not putting holes in his body anymore, so it seems like he's able to, like, hold himself, and you can see that when he got shot, he was here, and it pushed him back. So, he's able to, at least now, hold on to his own body, or defend better. Bang, bang, bang, bang. Look at that, four hits. Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. She's just not stopping, she's actually just trying to get rid of him. And she's really trying. Sploosh. And he doesn't come back up. There. Hey, come up already. Show me your look of defeat. What's this? He falls through this part? There's a door. Oh, Locust.

And a lot of them. The Locust Devil. Let me guess, the Locust Devil has a contract with her? Possibly? I don't know why the Locust will just come out of all other bugs slash devils, but let's see what goes on. Oh, man. Couldn't swim. I'd be screwed right now. Time out for a sec. Oopsie daisy. You know what I thought as well, when he becomes like this, like real Chainsaw Man, is basically he loses his identity. But it seems like he doesn't lose his identity. Yes, he's gained much more of a power towards Pachita in his original devil form. But I just thought because he's become much more of a devil, he loses his ability to become who he is, which is Denji.

Normally when he transforms, he's just got the head and his arms and he's got a human form. But I guess this is an upgrade much more further than the latter. So she clearly attacked it, right? But it also attacks her because you can see it's got a hole, his head's been removed, but you can see one of his arms, which is literally impaling her stomach. She should be fine though because I know she's got a contract with the USA. So yeah. Cough. Gak. Huh? He doesn't even know what's going on, he just came out from the water. How'd you like it, Yoruu? This is my perfect plan. Surrender. Zab. Me. Denji. So obviously she's saying save me, Denji. This is Yoruu most likely, not the war devil. Huh? Cheater!

She's using Yoruu as an escape goat for him to actually save her now. And I think this is him actually saving her. The door's opening. Oh, the door's bursting open, not opening. Chainsaw man coming up. With the locust devil hunter, devil, and he's still got her piercing- oh that's a bit mean, that's a bit rude actually. Did he cut him in two? On his arm, Kakaroth. Oh snap. Denji's losing his fight already. You can see his head's been torn off, but he's still alive. And Yoruu's right finally there, without the arm impaling her. Okay, this was chapter 226, obviously we're going to carry on because we are a bit behind on Chainsaw Man. But this was chapter 226, it was very interesting, I really did enjoy this.

I would obviously like to see more. I'm even excited to enjoy these chapters because it just makes it much more digestible. And I can understand why the writer slash director went for this type of limitations in terms of the amount of panels, so that maybe it just motivates him to also want to make more Chainsaw Man chapters. But let me know what you guys think about this episode in the podcast, on this chapter on Chainsaw Man 2, titled Locust, chapter 226. And remember, we're very close to 225 followers, we just need one more person to click that follow button.

But the goal is 250, so I'm going to keep pushing you guys to keep supporting the channel because this channel is our channel, where we read manga, we talk about anime, we do reviews, we find out news, related subjects on the subject of anime of course. And yeah, just more to come, more content, okay? I think here, this may be the war devil, she just wants help, it's not just Yoru, but then you did say cheetah, so it's either he's saying cheetah to Yoru, which is the war devil, or to the war devil, or saying cheetah in terms of he's using Yoru's body slash face for him to want to help her.

But yeah, 226, let's get into the next one, turn on notifications, and make sure to listen to the rest of the episodes on the podcast, okay? I'm out, peace.
